This is a 3m1/2f Handicap Chase which is very often run by past and future runners in the Grand National.
All of the last ten winners carried no more than 10st 12lb
Remember - only two favourites have won this race since 1977!
All of the last ten winners were rated officially 127-143
Nine out of the last ten winners had won over at least three miles
All of the last ten winners were aged between 7-10
Horses with previous placed Festival form have a good record within this race
The North Yorkshire trainer Ferdy Murphy is one to take important consideration of. He has had Cheltenham Festival winners at 50/1, 33/1, 33/1 and 20/1 - amazing. Another trainer to look out for is Nicky Henderson. He had the 11/2 winner 'Marlborough' at Cheltenham in 2000 and has also had four other placed horses out of an additional ten runners in ten years - certainly a racing name to take seriously.
Another idea is to take note of previous Cheltenham runners who have previously placed. Wichita Lineman who won last year and Nenuphur Conllonges who took third had both won previous long distance novice hurldle which is now known as the Albert Barlett Novices Hurdle. Taking this into consideration may mean that last years winner Weapons Amnesty could be a potential for this year.
