This is a 3 mile race over 12 hurdles. This race is considered to be quite specialist and will take a certain type of horse to conquer it.

Nine out of the last ten winners started at 8/1 or less

All of the previous ten winners have either finished first or second in their last race outing

Nine out of the last ten winners have previously run at the Cheltenham Festival

Nine out of the last ten winners have run between six and seventeen times over hurdles

Nine out of the last ten winners have previously finished a grade one hurdle in either 1st or 2nd place

Nine out of the last ten winners had no more than four runs since the August of that season

Its been quite a while, in fact 15 years since the race was won by an Irish horse (Dorans Pride). Therefore it may be worthwhile looking at runners not from Ireland! The winners have usually been one of the favourites, so longer odds may not find you the winner you are after.
