This is a 2 mile sprint not for the faint hearted. Ability to run fast and jump well will make a winner!
Nine out of the last ten winners were aged between six to nine
All of the previous 10 winners had it's final prep run within 51 days which means mid to late Jan
Nine out of the last ten winners had won at least one horse race that season
All of the last ten winners had previously run very well at the Cheltenham Festival and had placed at least fourth with eight out of ten previous winners at the Cheltenham Festival.
When choosing your potential winner the age of the horse seems to be important (six to nine years) along with the horses previous form at Cheltenham. Its very unusual for a five or nine year old horse to do well in the Champion Hurdle, so you could possibly reduce the number of potentials even further by concentrating on those runners that are six to eight years of age with previous good Cheltenham form.
