Arkle Chase

This is the grade one chase for novices which is over 2 miles of the old course.

Jumping well at speed in this race really does test the inexperienced horses. Jumping errors will take their toll, and those unable to keep their speed will soon drop to the back of the pack.

All of the last ten winners started at a starting price no bigger then 11/1.

All of the last ten winners had no more than five races over fences.

Nine of the last ten winners were aged between five and seven.

Nine out of the last ten winners were rated at least 142 over hurdles.

The last three winners of this race looked more likely to go for a different longer race, but didn't. Therefore if you can get the right odds but are still unsure which race they will take, it may still be worthwhile taking a punt. Not many horses rated 142 or over will easily go over fences. If they meet the age requirement the horses may well be worth taking into consideration.
